Description

Appalachian Crocomander
Scientific name: Pseudocrocodylus appalachias
Length 5-6 ft.
Weight:20-34 lbs.
Habitat: Appalachian Great Lake
Region: Appalachia (W. North America)
Ancestor: Hellbender
In the Xenocene: the Appalachia region has a lake just under the size of lake, but deeper. With that expanse, many animals are sure to go along their own path. One such group is the crocomanders, a group of crocodile-like salamanders belonging to the family Pseudocrocodylidae.
The largest of this group is the Appalachian crocomander.
This amphibian is an ambush predator, lying by the water's edge for prey and lunching at them to pull them under. With such a niche, comes a need for appropriate tools. As such, crocomanders have large semiconical teeth. One of the Appalachian crocomander's greatest adaptations is its collapsible rib cage, allowing it to dive to the deeper portions of the lake.
