Dinosapian by Dinomaster337 Dinosapian by Dinomaster337
Don't think I haven't noticed the lack of anything in my speculative evolution category. I have and I'M TIRED OF LOOKING AT IT!!!!! When making the picture I asked myself "What would it look like like if the K-Pg Extinction never happened and dinosaurs not only remained the dominant species, but became sentient and had a culture?" I tired to stay as far away from the Dinosaurian, or whatever that upright, humanoid troodon thing is called, as possible (except the big eyes, that is too far fetched). So is the result. The name is Simiosaurus, but I was too eager to upload it to change the name so keep that in mind. It means "Monkey lizard", after its abnormally long arms and opposable thumb. I was making something else for this, but it was basically a raptor with a sharp stick and a nose ring and I don't know if that's vary realistic, so I scraped it. Simiosaurus are arboreal theropods, who do happen to be closely related to dromaeosaurs but aren't dromaeosaurs themselves. (That's why they have a huge toe claw.) I based the colors of the head on the speckled owl and a woodpecker. For the body, I turned to the northern goshawk and the eastern grass owl. Their huge toe claw is largest on males and is used in interspecific combat. They're omnivores, meaning they'll eat both meat and plants, but when given a choice, and the other option is a Caesar salad, you bet they'll probably go for the steak. Now I challenge you guys! Try to flesh them out! Don't worry about anything I upload on them in the future, unless it involves what animals they share their environment with, I want to test your guys' creativity more than anything else. Their culture and lifestyle are all up to you. Heck, if you're really creative, you could change their environment; maybe your version lives in a hot desert, or an open grassland, or on a frozen tundra. You could even change their colors to match their habitat. As long as it's the same dino, no anatomical or physiological changes apart from color, I'm cool with it. So go, be free, and start fleshing out!

Im thinking about doing something akin to what you did with these guys in that they evolved from arboreal ancestors, but im imagining the forests began to shrank and gave way to Savannah, but they abilities that the Simiosaurs evolved from their ancestors were useful for other things, and eventually became what they are now. Im also thinking about adding a bunch of large herbivorous Dinosaurs near by in the picture(a hunt i guess)

I'll say it sounds like however the viewer thinks it does. Although I guess that isn't unreasonable. ;)

I think this is perfectly plausible.

I'm sorry to say but would probably have evolved from a troodontid or a primitive bird so it would have lived in a forest or a temporat forest and since it was a reptile/avian reptile its head would have been a bit bigger also since it was roughly 2.5 meters long it would have problems staying in the tree for long periods of time so it probably evolve a form of bipedalism/45 degree stance to compensate for the longer arms.

Hm... thanks for the insight. With that said though, this was my first time doing something like this and I was mostly just trying to make something as far from the traditional sentient dinosaur (the humanoid troodon thing) as possible.

Thank you ;) As I said in the description, the original concept was basically a raptor with a spear and a nose ring and thought "That doesn't sound all that realistic, now that I think about it." so I scrapped it. I don't actually know how probable that would be. It's possible I guess, but might as well be impossible, from my scientific knowledge. I'm only 15, so I don't claim to be an expert.
