Description

This is a truly awesome dinosaur that is really one of a kind. IT IS A TRAGEDY THAT I HAVE IGNORED IT FOR SO LONG! NO MORE! Meet the true pharaoh of N. Africa: SPINOSAURUS!!!! This dinosaur was discovered in 1912 by paleontologist, Ernst Stromer, in Egypt's Bahariya Formation, as far as I know remaining the largest known theropod to this day, was destroyed by a booming run in WWII, and would remain mostly formless until 2014 through illegal fossil trade. T. Rex's story isn't nearly that interesting. So now, bask in the glory of the pharaoh. I based the feathers (more on that later) on nothing in particular; I just thought of bird-like color schemes and stuck with it. The sail is based on Egyptian sculptures and their colors. I gave it a pelican-esque, throat pouch cause why not? It already has a pelican neck poster, why not go all the way? And yes, the jaws do have a notch in them, I just made the lips cover it cause I'm pretty sure that's how lips work. Onto posture, the Ibrahim study has shown that Spinosaurus would have had to knuckle-walk like an ape, but other studies have shown that the legs may have been 27% larger than Ibrahim had guessed, and now it's one of those things where we keep going back and forth. Either way, the legs would have been shorter than most theropods, because hydrodynamics. The webbing has no direct evidence, but it makes sense to me cause it's been confirmed from isotopes that Spinosaurus spent most of it's life in the water. As a fishing creature, spino could grow huge without having to compete with Carcarodontosaurus and Bahariyasaurus. As for feathers, Spinosaurs evolved from megalosaurs, or share a common ancestor with them not sure, which don't have much in evidence of feathers, but you know what? F*%# conservatism! Dinosaurs are related to birds, damnit! Why not show it?!? With that, go back to basking in the glory of the pharaoh. :D
